Lifted index alone as an indicator for turbulence is not good enough. Point is, simple thermal activity isn't sufficient to identify turbulence. What about wind gracient, orographic features, pressure gradient, wind strengths, inversion height, etc.

I would support such an idea where areas of turbulence would show up like areas of precipitation on a radar screen. I am not a meteorologist but did some forecasting during soaring competitions and take an active interest in meteorology. There is a lot of data and experience going into turbulence forecasts. So much so, that I believe the accuracy of a forecast based on only a few parameters is very doubtful.

What would, however, be useful is if there were a forecast product available which predicts turbulence in a way that SD can subscribe to it and display it as a map overlay.

Currently, we don't even have precipitation radar in Europe. Flying in the US is a whole different experience. There you get live weather, including radar, satellite imagery, the whole works, over the entire continent. I wish that Europe would move forward more quickly in these areas.
